NIBR signed MOU with Seogu Incheon Metropolitan City to plant and propagate Korean indigenous flowers 



On April 20 2021, the MOU was made and entered into between NIBR and Seogu Incheon Metropolitan City to provide and spread Korean indigenous plants in the city. 


Under the MOU, NIBR will give advice on planting techniques and management, and information on appropriate Korean flowers suitable for the city’s ecosystems. 


The MOU allows both parties to work together on propagating Korean indigenous plants by sharing plant-related projects and policies. The two parties will also focus on discovering future collaboration projects based on the shared information to continue these efforts. 


First of all, the two parties have selected 7 parks and riverside areas including Ara Canal, Cheongna Lake Park, Gongchon-cheon, and Geomdan-cheon to grow the Korean plants adapt to the city’s environments.


The flowers to be planted are 3 types of Korean herbal plants including Apocynum lancifolium Russanov, and Astragalus sikokianus Nakai.


Yeon Jae Bae, president of NIBR said: “This pilot project aims to propagate and publicize our indigenous plants in urban areas. We will increase our efforts to collaborate with other local governments so that the general public can easy to find beautiful Korean flowers decorating all cities and towns nationwide.”
